Happy New Year to you all from the Lesinas. We marked the New Year coming in at Eastern time (so only 9pm for us). We had had a busy day including going to see Gullivers travels at the movie Theatre.Cute movie! Had Billy Connolly in it as the king of Lilliput, and when Braeden heard him speak, his wee head swung round toward me and said "he sounds just like your Grandpa"...and we clarified he indeed meant Granda Stewart :-)
So as the ball dropped in New York, a very sleepy Braeden noticed it was snowing outside. we ran out to toast out there but unfortunately my phone camera did not pick up on the huge snow flakes falling :-( Beautiful!

So Thats it....2011 here we come, ready or not ;-)

Braeden

This posting is especially for Mum. This is Braeden in his Perry the Platypus/Agent P get up that mum/dad got him for christmas

Yes, i know the sweatshirt is a wee bit big but he had to have it and Perry the Platypus was not available in the size that would actually fit now "But Mum, I like it big"
And this was the trick he learned he could do this morning! He can make it all the way to the ceiling but by the time I got the camera on my phone set up he was beginning to fatigue.
Never dull around here :-)

Well Hello, and Mery Christmas to those of you who I wasnt able to say it live to.

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We had a fun day, but given the camera problems noted of late I had to resort to disposable cameras for Christmas So I will wait and tell the stories of the lesina Christmas when I get those photos developed and onto a disc so I can out them on the blog.

So you Simply get a photo of Holly. Taken on Scotts phone when he had her at the dog park christmas eve. Scott did a fantastic job getting all the energy filled beings out of the house christmas eve afternoon so I could finish wrapping, cleaning and doing food prep. It was very much appreciated. He firstly took Cade and Braeden to the skate park, returned them home while he took Holly to the dog park and then on his return was off to the skatepark again due to special request from Cade.

Scott and I are all alone for a couple of days. Kids are off to Karens for a couple of days, watching them for me while I work. So we are enjoying the unusual quiet and are spending our time vegging out and eating left overs. Last night was prawn marie rose in avacado and smoked salmon. Tonight was crab. Yum!! Not to mention polishing off the coconut and choc cream pie :-)

Well thats it for me. I am too stuffed to sit here any longer. Must lay down and unbutton my pants ;-)

Take care everyone. Love to all

Video of boys 2 yrs ago

Just to get everyone into the festive spirit. Cade and Braeden 2 yrs ago at xmas xx
Still have not found my charger for my camera so still no photos. But I did figure out that my work camera has the same charger so I will take my battery in tomorrow. So alls not lost when it comes to getting xmas photos onto my blog.

I have absolutely nothing to report other than I am completely unable to resist all the goodies at work! Why can I not walk past chocolate and baked goods without grabbing a handful?? Even going to the gym 4 days a week is not holding my winter spread at bay! I also have difficulty resisting the egg nog lattes. Everytime I do some shopping for xmas I just feel I must have one.You know, to be festive :-)Today driving home from work I picked Karen up a pumpkin spice latte, as she had been watching all 4 grandsons and I knew by that time she would be needing something, and the Britt in me would not let her drink alone ;-) Another egg nog latte was had. I cannot stop!!!

I too have got my smoked Salmon, but prawns, Rib roast and yummy pies will all be picked up friday for the xmas feed. Oh and I need to go get Tuaca. An Italian liquor that I will put in warmed apple cider. Yummy.

Loved reading Dads blog and hearing the story of the meeting of my grandparents. Would love to hear more stories. Think you should make it a regular thing on your blogs mum and dad :-)

Right, Im going to get going. After the choccies and egg nog should really get going to the gym. Anyone have any suggestions for running music. I am getting bored of my playlist

Love to all

Just a quickie. No photos I'm afraid as I have lost my camera charger :-(
Alls well here. Headed to Portland on a course and the family are coming with me so we will do some christmassy things while there, so I may actually have something to blog about after the weekend.
Today after work I head to the school for parent teacher conferences so will let you all know how that goes.
Thats really all I have to report. Raining here but mild. Decorated a gingerbread house with the boys last night. Wokeup this morning and it had all fallen down. Gingerbread with morning coffee....yum yum!

Well Hello everyone. I am sitting here at work writing this blog as I am having an unusually slow day, but cannot leave as I have to wait for my last patient of the day. I would blame that it is the week of Thanksgiving and the smattering of snow that has made my day of patients fall apart, but 2 patient cancellations were for medical reasons and 1 is just too complicated to tell but very frustrating for me!! So here I sit waiting for my last one, and I have done every piece of paperwork I can do to this point. So blog it is, but unfortunately without photos.

Alls well here. Football is over so no rushing back and forth from practice, thus giving Scott and I to hit the gym a little more regularly while the boys play in the youth gym downstairs. This week is thanksgiving so I am really looking foward to thanksgiving dinner at Laramies. In a couple of weeks I have a course in Portland and Scott and the boys are coming along for the hotel room, pool, some christmas shopping, and going to the Christmas tree farm. I have discovered a Polar express train ride about one hour east of Portland so will see if we can get tickets for that. Like the movie, you board the train in your pyjamas, drink hot chocolate and make your way to visit Santa. Fingers crossed there are still tickets available.

So thats it. Dad, i do remember the name bamsy mums but cant recall what they are. Please remind me. And Gary...a horse with toes. OMG where do you get all your facts from? Surely you can find a picture too :-)

The Lesina's are home. We made it home a week ago but I've been sick all week. On the plane home I knew Cade was sick but I thought I just couldn't get warm on the flight. The next morning when I woke up in my own bed (and we all know how lovely it is to get back to your own bed) Scott remarked how hot I was. Not one for normally commenting on my beauty ;-) I realised he meant feverish. I was 103.5 degrees. And so there I was for the next 2 days, constant fevers and just sleeping all the time. Sunday I got up as cade had his play off game. Feeling a little better I bundled myself off and went to watch. The game was so exciting, our boys played awesome, and when one of our players stripped the ball from the other team and ran it in for a touchdown for us I jumped up to cheer, and was hit with sudden left sided chest pain. I sat down, rested and it subsided. I stayed to watch our boys win 29 to 0 :-)

So I rested when i got home, and didnt feel too terrible, but later that evening the chest pain returned and so did the fevers. Thought I may just be doing too much so I took off for bed beside my now feverish Cade. I woke up early i the morning following the third night of ferocious night sweats and now further increase in chest pain and for some reason the phrase "rheumatic fever" was in my head. Cade and I headed to the Doctors for it opening and we were examined

The doctor took a swab of our throats, said cade had an inflamed throat and I had bronchitis and that he was sending samples off to lab, but here was a 10 day dose of penicillin to get started with. Once labs returned we learned the culprit was the sreptococci bacteria and we absolutely must finish the penicillin and throw out our toothbrushes and get new.

So what is rheumatic fever? that is a more serious illness caused by the strep bacteria and if left untreated an weaken the heart. Was I getting little messages from someone/somewhere? We will never know, but if I hadnt woken up with that strange phrase in my head I would not have gone to the doctors that day. It was just as well I did as the chest pain worsened significantly on the monday, and with each dose of the penicillin I took I got progressively better.

I love that penicillin was invented. What a wonder drug. I am back to work, energy levels improving and hope to feel up to a run this weekend.

And speaking of this weekend, 9 am saturday Cades team plays in the final. If we win we get to go play at Autzen (college football stadium) again :-) Wish us luck xxxxx

Right I'm off. Got to retrieve my baked macaroni cheese. After not really eating for 5 days, I now cant stop :-)

Love to all

Miss all of you in Scotland and had such a wonderful time. Thank you all for a great wedding

Much love and hugs

Looking foward to coming home soon, makes me think of one of the reasons I have always looked foward to coming home for, and thats to visit my Granda. I was so lucky to have 4 wonderful grandparents who just brought so much to my life, but I had a particular soft spot Granda Stewart. Maybe it was the sand sculptures when vacationing in france, or walking down to the store to get rolls and irn bru, maybe it was the chasing round the bush in Foxbar drive, or the car rides to the hospital when I had my placement at Gartnavel, or the scrabble games we played

But I know this, 1 year on from his passing I will miss visiting him when I come home. Rest in Peace sweet Granda 21st dec 1920 to Oct 11 th 2009

But on a lighter note, and one I know he will appreciate, that means on frid it will mark the 1 year anniversary since I got a speeding ticket. Kelly was here in Oregon when Granda passed, and I always felt that somehow his passing was timed in order to allow me to take some time off work to let me spend some time with my sister before she embarked on her journey across another pond!! The day of Grandas funeral we had decide to go up to Crater lake, do a hike, and mark his memorial that way. Well we got up there and it was bloody freezing!!!! So we instead opted for a cup of tea in the wee coffee shop up there....I felt Grannie and Granda would have truly appreciated a cup if tea and a fine piece!! Driving home, talking to Kelly, and in the back of my mind realising if we got home before 1pm we could get Braeden out of day care before nap time, I ended up being dinged for going 15 mph over the speed limit! Ouch...that cost me a fine and a day at traffic school.Ahhh memories ;-) At my other Grandas funeral I tripped over Uncle Jimmys walking stick and got a fit of the giggles as I went to take communion up!
So the countdown is truly on. What an exciting time. Cade has his last football practice for the season thurs, then his last game this sunday at 1pm...we are sacrificing 2 football games to come to the union of Gary Stewart and Carole Corthorn :-) Everybody has to send winning vibes our way for sunday as we are playing the other Grants Pass team....we have to show them who the true GP are!!! Also of equal importance, I have to find shoes for the wedding!!! That is my task for friday. I am not getting a handbag as I will have 3 sporrans to my disposal to put money and lipstick in ;-)
See you all soon you readers in Scotland xxxx

Couldnt remember if I had posted these before, and I am too lazy to look back, but these are the boys on a "quiet night in" with mom. Cant remember where Scott was. They were taken in september
But thought they would be a good reminder of the energy that heads to Scotland in 2 weeks from today :-)

But that energy does always poop out eventually
Nothing really to write about....just on here as its been a week and I know Dad is home bored so just giving him something to read :-)
Boys are excited to be coming over. Braeden has asked if he will still have the kilt the day after the wedding to wear for halloween. I will be packing an alternative. So mum, better prepare Ann and Leslie to have some candy this year as there will be some trick or treaters in the neighbourhood.
I got to have lunch with the CEO of the company today. Its a thing he's doing, having approx 6 employees for lunch to get opinions on what can be done better. So being the offspring of "the opinionated Ian and Jo show" I did have some things to say, but of course threw in the positive too :-) But the best part was the cake. The moist moist sponge with layers of buttercream and pineapple covered in coconut. Yep I was done talking once they served that ;-)
Well thats it folks. Got to go figure out dinner. Forgot to leave the pork chops out to defrost so it may be omelettes tonight.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. Our game is sunday this weekend so send winning thoughts our way. Cade is a little burned out so any tips on how to get the fire back in his belly please post them on your blog

I've got nothing for photos right now. Sorry!! And that is the reason for not having blogged in 2 weeks. Doesnt seem right without photos.

Life is all about football right now, and I am so engrossed this year, taking photos has been the last thing I think of. Will try and take some this weekend. And failing that will let dad know the team website so he can see some photos taken by one of the other moms whose job is photography :-)

Cade truly is an amazing player to watch this year. I know you think I am bias but he so loves this sport he gives it his everything. it is amazing to see how many kids he can push through and drag with him trying to advance the ball. Our last game was 28 to 0. Yes we scored the 28. This weekend we play in Medford again on sunday, so fingers crossed our boys do as well this weekend.

I'm off shopping for a dress tomorrow for the wedding, but unfortunately do not have much time. Got to go into work first thing from about 8 to 0930 to get caught up on paperwork, then head for Medford for approx 1 hour before having to head back as I am volunteering in Braedens classroom tomorrow. So i am hoping for something to call out my name ;-)

Was going to go for a run early morning but here I am at 11pm catching up on my blog so doubt i make it up in time. I just read Kellys blog and I am feeling the pressure ;-) I ran only 6.5 miles last night and it took me just over an hour. And my knees hurt like crazy. But fine today :-)

OK...I'm off to bed....send running and shopping thoughts my way

Oh my! Its been 3 weeks since my last entry. We have been busy with the start of football season. 2 hour practices 5 nights a week and with Scott coaching he is at the field a half hour before and we usually dont leave the field until at least a half hour after, sometimes an hour! But given the games dont start til this weekend, it did lend us the opportunity to run down to Redding this weekend. The plan was for me to attend a baby shower down there, and for Scott to take our boys plus friend Jacob to the water park. But after the mother to be was admitted to the hospital ( all is well now though) I got to join in on the water fun too :-) The above photo is Cade being hit in the face by a water cannon

Our boys playing with the water cannon

Sitting on top of the watr volcano awaiting its erruption

And with cousin Landen outside of his home where the shower was to be. It is Scotts cousin,Neil's girlfriend Christy who is due a baby boy sept 19th. Although this weekend he almost arrived early via emergency c section, but everything calmed down and "mom to be" is now home and resting. No more work for her.
So thats it. Holiday photos will now cease as starting this weekend it will be all football photos. Off to find a tshirt so I can have Cades number printed on it. Go no.44!! Dad, wear your Pop Warner jacket for luck saturday. Cades team plays at 1230 and then again at 2pm.
Hope alls well with everyone

Wednesday, August 4, 2010

I just wrote out a long blog entry and it has disappeared therefore you are now getting the condensed version. Here's Cade birthday cake no.2. This was to share with his friends who had a sleepover and play day to celebrate his birthday with him
Here I am with my birthday boy. Quite solemn and those of you who are on facebook know why!

Having trouble blowing out his candles. And again those of you on facebook know why

Oops, this is not the right photo. This one was meant to show Braeden helping Cade, but given the computer is acting up I am not going to try and sort this!!

And for those of you who are not on facebook, this is the answer to your question "why". he slipped on the ladder of the pool on monday night with all his friends over, and it resulted in these injuries that necessitated us spending the rest of the evening in the ER. He is now all glued shut, and is on football restriction and no swimming for the week!

But he still did manage to have a great birthday. Thank you to everyone for your birthday wishes, cards and gifts.

Good Monday morning to you. I am off mon, tues this week and boy does it feel good. I think my ideal work schedule would be to only work tues, wed, thurs :-)Shame my boss and husband wouldn't go for that. Anyway, as you see we have been doing more boating. Fun times, but this time came with a little more excitement that Scott would've wished for.........

We got a flat on the boat trailer as we headed home sunday. No sweat for Scott though....i think he changed that tire in record time. Maybe he should work for Nascar or formula 1!! Look behind him. There is Cade clutching his "Nook", the e reader that Scott, mum, dad and I got him for his birthday. I was going to hold onto it until his birthday but mums birthday card that Cade opened the other day when it arrived read "enjoy your nook"!!!! And although as a baby cade called his pacifier/dummy a nook I really couldn't cover that one!!!!!!!
OK, do you think I made mum cringe enough!?!?. Only joking. Cade didnt even realise what was written on the side of the card, and I thought I would give it to him earlier so he could figure it out before he has his friends for sleepover on his birthday as I am sure he is going to want to show it of. I am so happy with how much reading he has done on it already. He takes after his granda Ian.....like his technology!

And here are some photos just for mum. Some examples from my garden. We have had wonderful tomatoes, cucumbers, broccolli and sugar snap peas from the garden. And later we will have acorn squash, thats the pic on the left with the snail on it, and brussel sprouts....see them staring to bud on the stem on the pic on the right. Very exciting!!
Right. I better go. Need to get this house ready for 4 additional boys sleeping over for Cades birthday tonight. Should be fun!!!!

Look Dad....I'm updating daily to give you something to read while you lay there resting and recovering. Did think, though, that you would've updated yours by now to give us all the lowdown on your experience...hope all is well with you.

Well today we had the first of Cades birthday parties. This one with Scotts family. By now I'm sure you all know that the birthday dinner request from cade was Haggis, so I made chicken Rob Roy, and it was very well received. Well done Lesinas and Michels :-) You are now inducted into Scottish cuisine :-) And Mum, the birthday cake was fantastic. Chocolate cake with fudge filling and vanilla whip icing was an excellent choice by cade. You would've loved it.

So we are all bloated and all 3 boys in bed. The girls (Holly and I) took a quick run but my tum tum was not for going too far ;-0

Tomorrow it is off to the lake for another day of knee boarding. Despite Scott having to be in Medford for 4pm for a coaches meeting, he really wants to get some laketime in.So its up and out prompt in the morning. Will I get up early enough to take Holly for a run before we go?? Here she is "Santas Little Helper"
Have a good sunday everyone.

Friday, July 30, 2010

So this is Kambria, my running partner. We had a great workout this morning. So good, that our tag along Holly was absolutely pooped and I had to encourage her to pick up her pace. Finally so fatigued that she didnt chew anything all day :-)

Kambria has nicknamed my adoreable little pooch " Santas Little Helper" after the dog from the Simpsons. What do u think? This photo was from a couple of moths ago but she looks about the same, just a wee bit bigger. I think Kambria has a point. There are some strong resemblances to "Santas Little Helper"
Was going to write more but boys are in the pool with Jacob (Kambrias son who is staying over tonight), and Scott has moved on from mowing the backyard to mowing the front so I better get out there to supervise. You know how wild these boys can get!
Love to all....especially the recovering patient :-)

Happy dad made it throught the angiogram without hitch....way to go Dad.
Boys with their new haircuts...willl elaborate on that story after my run :-)

Sunday, July 25, 2010

These pictures put here to make my dad laugh. Think I may have worried him slightly with my nagging of take it easy after the angiogram and pack an overnight bag just in case. Sorry Dad....but if you prepare for having to stay/having to take it easy these things wont happen and that would be a nice surprise v's you planning to run and skip out of there and straight to your activities and then perhaps find you are not as able as you would like. That would be frustrating!!

So here we have my cherubs. Fell asleep while I was on the phone to mum and dad today. They were at a friends for a sleep over last night, after a day of fundraising for 2 hours in the 100 degree temp, then swimming and trampolining for the remainder of the day. Turns out they didnt got to sleep til 1230, then awoke at 530. So I fed them comfort food and then this is what I found as i investigated the unusual silence. Aren't they sweet?

So I will go and finish my laundry. Then tonight get to go out for dinner with my sweet husband of 9 years. Its our anniversary today :-) I think this photo was taken at a wedding about a year after ours.
Hope alls well with everyone

"A sterile dressing will be placed on the groin area to prevent infection. You will need to lay flat and keep the leg straight for two to six hours to prevent bleeding. Your head can not be raised more than two pillows high (about 30 degrees). Do not raise your head off the pillows, as this can cause strain in your abdomen and groin. Do not try to sit or stand. The nurse will check your bandage regularly, but tell your nurse if you think you are bleeding (have a wet, warm sensation) or if your toes begin to tingle or feel numb. You may receive medication to relieve discomfort in the groin area after the anesthetic wears off. "

This is taken from info at work for patients going through angiogram. Why have a put this on my blog? Because I read dad's hillwalking blog that said he might make it on his hillwalk scheduled the weekend that he has his angiogram on the friday. No Dad....you are not going. That is Dr Lucy's orders!!!! And Shari backs me up. She had an angiogram 2 years ago and she says to tell you "you are not doing anything that weekend" I will tell you more about the procedure when i speak to you on the phone, but just wanted to stop you in your tracks re your crazy planning for the weekend after a major procedure!! have I made my point?!?!?

OK, I'm done. Actually at work so better get on with my job :-)

This is the life!!!
Summer is here and its all about boating and camping. Last weekend we were boating at Galesville reservoir both days of the weekend, and this weekend we camped up there too with friends of ours.
What a fantastic weekend. Their 4 kids and our 2 get along so well. If we werent on the boat, we were on floaties on the lake sipping a nice wee drink. Or up at camp playing badminton, or sitting at the campfire roasting marshmallows. It was great!!

Not much else to say. hope everyone else had a lovely weekend. Congratulations to Kelly for her race. i am impressed!
Off to bed now. Pretty exhausted now :-)
